FAQ

  1. Is counseling confidential?

Our clients privacy is important to us. Confidentiality is paramount for a positive counseling/therapeutic relationship. We do not share information about our clients with anyone without their written consent unless required to by law. We must report suspected child or elder abuse, serious threats to oneself, serious threats to others or if thoughts of destroying property is shared.

  2. What do I do if I need counseling right away or feel like I may harm myself?

Please note that Hope and Healing Counseling is not a 24-hour crisis counseling agency and we are not always able to respond immediately.  If you are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, please call for emergency services:  112 for German and English speakers and 115 for Czech speakers.

  3. What if I want to switch counselors?

We believe the first step in one’s journey towards wholeness is finding the right counselor. If we are not a fit, we have a list of referrals ready to share.

  4. How long does a counseling session take?

Typically sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes and most people see their counselor once a week or bi-weekly to begin for consistent progress to be made.

  5. What else is required of me besides coming to sessions?

Counselors often give homework that may consist of something to read, journaling and or an activity to complete to name a few things.
